
We are still in a pandemic, and the Swimming Committee in NSF has received many inquiries, about junior age and therefore submitted a proposal to the Federal Board in NSF which will provide an important clarification for athletes and coaches.
The Federal Board of the Norwegian Swimming Association has decided that the extension by one year for the junior age in swimming will be continued, so that it also applies after 1 January 2022.
The extension by one year in junior age will apply until any change is approved by the Federal Parliament in 2022.
The swimming committee has planned an evaluation of junior age and event structure.
The junior age and convention structure that was adopted at the Bundestag 2019, the clubs will have the opportunity to provide input on, and this will lead to an evaluation that provides a basis for whether changes of junior age and convention structure will be presented at the Bundestag in April 2022.
Junior age 2022 until any change is adopted at the Federal Parliament in 2022
The oldest age group for juniors in Norway in 2022 will be 18 years for girls and 19 years for boys.
Girls:
- Senior class for those born in 2003 and earlier.
- Junior class for those born in 2004 and later.
Boys:
- Senior class for those born in 2002 and earlier.
- Junior class for those born in 2003 and later.
