– Football has meant a lot to me throughout my life, and which I want to say that I have a passionate relationship with. I have many good experiences from children’s football, from the time playing on top and national teams, and as a football dad for my own children. Through almost 20 years as an expert commentator in NRK, I also know women’s football well, both nationally and internationally. Norwegian football is in an exciting time. I hope to be able to use my leadership experience to build an even stronger organization. Now I look forward to getting started, says Karl-Petter Løken in a press release from the Norwegian Football Association.
Løken has 36 international matches for A-men, and has also played for age-specific national teams. He has played for Askim, Sarpsborg, Rosenborg and Stabæk. With Rosenborg, he won seven league championships and four cup championships. He also has a coaching education, and has been a football coach in children’s and youth football in Øvrevoll Hosle.
President of the same union, Lise Klaveness, is happy that the Askim man accepted the position.
– With Karl-Petter Løken, we get a general secretary with very solid experience as both footballer and leader. In the business world, he has been a leader at all levels, including CEO of Kværner ASA. He has played at all levels in Norwegian football and has a good reputation among those he has met in his long playing career. Through his over 20 years of commitment as an expert commentator for both women’s and men’s football in NRK, he has followed top football closely even after finishing his playing career. We are very happy that Karl-Petter will be our next general secretary and that he will take the step back into the football arena for good. We have had a broad and thorough recruitment process and are completely confident that we have made a good choice here, says Lise Klaveness, president of the Norwegian Football Association.
