The Norwegian championship in long distance swimming (50 meters) 2021 for junior, senior and pair swimmers will be held in AdO arena in Bergen on Saturday 3 – Tuesday 6 July.
Technical organizers are the Bergen Clubs: Arna SLK, Bergensvømmerne, Bergens Svømme Club, Bergen Vest Svømmeklubb, Svømmeklubben Delfana and Åstveit Svømmeklubb.
Last test for our Olympic swimmers
National team manager Petter Løvberg is looking forward to exciting days in Bergen where our Olympic swimmers complete their last competition before leaving for Japan. Our best swimmers have been tested in the European Championships long distance in Budapest in May where Ingeborg Vassbakk Løyning passed the Olympic requirement of 100 meters backstroke. During the Bergen Swim Festival in June, Tomoe Zenimoto Hvas also qualified for the Olympics in the 200 meter medley. In addition, several of our best swimmers were in Sette Colli (Rome) last weekend where they gained another international experience on the long distance.
Now the qualifying period is over, and the NM is next with many exciting duels. On the women’s side, Olympic-ready Ingeborg Vassbakk Løyning (Bærumsvømmerne) must find herself a sky-high favorite for the King’s Cup, while on the men’s side there may be some more excitement for who travels home with the King’s Cup in their luggage. Henrik Christiansen (Lambertseter SK) is the biggest favorite, but Tomoe Zenimoto Hvas (Bærumsvømmerne) and forward-thinking André Klippenberg Grindheim (Hamar IL) are the biggest challengers for the King’s Cup.
10 swimmers have been selected for the NUM (Nordic Youth Championship) which will be held the weekend after the National Championships, and everyone will have a nice competition run the week before the championship in Lithuania.

– Many swimmers have enough ambitions to swim into one of the national team groups during the NM days in Bergen, and I think there will be fierce competition on both the junior and senior side, says Løvberg.
– Bergen and AdO Arena are always a nice place to come to. There are experienced organizers and a good atmosphere in the hall that will contribute to good results, even though we are still not quite done with a demanding pandemic.
